November...part 2

A couple of weeks ago, Evan and I went down to Grapeland to see my parents. During the trip, we went with my parents to DeLeon,TX to see my Dad's parents. We had a nice visit with them & my Grandmother's brother & sister-in-law.

Here is a picture of Pa giving Evan a ride around the yard. :)
Evan enjoyed playing with Nanny's colorful coasters. He liked counting them & having her help to put them back in the box.
At Mom & Dad's house, Evan loved sitting in this window seat and playing with the pumpkins.

During his bath, we decided to try out some colorful bath beads. For the first time to use them, somehow we ended up with pink water. Thankfully, he did not seem to care. :) He just enjoyed pouring the water from one cup to the other.

November...part 1

This month has been good... different, but good. Page has worked out of town for several weeks. It has not been easy, but we have tried to make the best of it. While Page has been gone, Evan and I have had to be a little more creative about how we spend our time. I have been able to take some cute pictures of him while he was playing or watching a movie.

My parents were able to come up at the beginning of the month- Evan really enjoyed seeing them.
Here is Evan watching his new favorite show... 'Word World!' He is addicted and we have to limit his time with his 'word friends.' This was a cold morning. I had put the blanket on him when he sat down, but he got up and was walking around for a bit. However, a few minutes later, he sat down and put the blanket back on himself. :) Since then, he has decided that it is nice to have a blanket available at all times. He has 2 blankets that he wants to carry all over the house. One was made by his Aunt Patti & the other was made by our friend Erin. So, thanks to you ladies for giving us something that he has really enjoyed lately.
In this one, Evan is playing with our broken (and un-salvagable) camera. He was trying to look through it and was telling me to 'mile.' So cute.
Here are some more random shots from our backyard. Evan loves playing with dandelions (kinda sad that we have so many for him to enjoy) and he carries them around.

More fall & Halloween!

Yay!! I have finally been able to upload some new pictures. Fall is my absolute favorite season. Evan and I had the wonderful opportunity to go to the Dallas Arboretum with some friends. The mother and child portions of the Amey and Green families were with us as we enjoyed a beautiful, yet crowded morning with the Autumn colors of the park.

Evan really enjoyed running around and playing around the pumpkins.

Here is a shot of him looking out of one of the Storybook houses that are set up around the garden.
We had a great day. Here is my favorite mother-son shot.
On Halloween, Page and I decided that trick-or-treating may be a little much for Evan. We figure we don't need any extra candy & we could hold off one more year before we will have to go. :) But, we wanted some pictures of him dressed up as a lion, so we went to a little spot in Allen that we set up for just that.

Here is a family shot. Evan is one cute little lion. :)
Evan really loved climbing around and on the pumpkins.
Such a cute shot with Daddy.

Me and my little guy.

This one actually shows him smiling!!

Before Halloween, we went to a costume party for our small group at church. It was so fun, and everyone was very creative with their costumes. I was a little distracted by getting Evan to stay happy in his costume, and did not get any pictures. But, when I get them I will add them to this post. Our family was a set of Starbucks drinks... Evan was a tall kids hot chocolate, I was a grande soy pumpkin spice latte & Page was a venti breve extra shot white chocolate mocha. We had a lot of fun.
Here are pics from the evening!! :) There were some pretty good costumes.
We had a little bit of a hard time getting Evan to wear his costume. With the help of Jes & some chocolate covered raisins, we finally got him to tolerate being uncomfortable.
Here is our little Starbucks family. Complete with caramel, chocolate & cinnamon toppings. :)

Chris & Annamarie are the newcomers to our small group. They are also new to the idea of homecoming mums, which they found hilarious! They did a great job on their version & were not too far off on sizing. :)
Matthew & Jes were animal control personnel & they were on the hunt for little Claire, the puppy.
The Amey family came as food mascots. Ben & Wyatt were the Jolly Green Giant & Sprout, Lila was the mermaid from Chicken of the Sea & Colette did a great impression of the Sun-maid raisin lady. Note- all hand-made costumes!!
Here is a close-up of the green guys. Their costumes were great & the detail was crazy!
Paul & Jill have been on the hunt for a new house, so it was great when they showed up as real estate signage. Some pretty nice places they were advertising!
The cutest cowpokes in McKinney! Matt & Denise

The kids had a great time playing and running around in their costumes (or lack thereof).

Beginnings of Fall...

Fall has to be my favorite season!! I love the cooler weather, and the colors. We have had way too much rain lately, but hopefully it won't last much longer. The beginning of the month has brought several moments that were blog-worthy.

Evan loves to 'play drums.' He drums on anything he can think of. His newest discovery has been to turn over the trash can and drum the bottom. Here he is with Page making tons of noise in the kitchen.
The same evening, I was making a pie. Evan wanted to 'help' so I sat him on the counter and he stacked the spices while I worked on my pie. He has some talent! This was also the day his fever started the week of swine flu. Not a fun week, but thankfully, it was not as bad as it could have been. He is a little trooper.
While trying to be creative on a sick & rainy day, we pulled a few hats out of the closet. This is the only one that Evan would leave on for more than a couple of seconds. (It is a wooly from Crystal several years ago.) Amazing how he looks like a little boy here- not my little baby anymore! :(
While at Grandma Lisa's house, Evan decided once again to 'help' Aunt Lauren with her work. Of course, he needed a laptop & blue tooth!
Here Evan is pointing out all of the o's on the sign across the street from Grandma Lisa's house. O is his favorite letter & he identifies it well!
At the very end of Sept, we had Evan's 18 month appt & his stats were... ht-34.5in, wt-28.4lbs. He is getting so big! Again, not a little baby anymore.

Stickers!

Well, Evan turned 18 months last month. It is so true that time flies. I never did really pay attention to that until we had Evan, but it is very true. So, a few weeks ago, I was watching Claire and Evan. We were at the Green's house & one of Claire's favorite toys lately has been stickers. She helped Evan to see the fun that can be had. They played with these stickers for about 30 minutes. That is pretty good for two kids under 2! It was nice- they even helped each other get evenly covered. :)
